by david barringer. the title of this book grabbed my attention, and then looking further i saw that the cover and illustrations were done by eduardo recife. i knew i just had to see this book. reading the reviews makes me interested even more. each story completing the phrase "we were ugly so we made beautiful things out of..." in pieces ranging from concrete fiction to poetic onslaughts. through wordriot press. piperboy's scrapbook

a beauty of a travel scrapbook using the lo-fi lomo. a must-see if you're at all interested in web design, lomography or travel. (be sure to click on the vancouver island tab; there's some images from vancouver).

i want my holga {now}

even if you're just half interested you have to visit the lomography site at least once. as it is one of the most well-thought out, organized and interesting websites i have ever come across. because i want one of these babies so bad i visit it often, wondering what other little accessory they may have come up with to add to my imaginary camera. not that they are a lot of money, just one of those silly things that i really don't need but am desperate to have. it's the combination of soft focus, vignetting, multiple exposures and light leaks that brings such a sense of mood and atmosphere to each image.



i truly dig the 35 mm (above) effect (click on techniques). a little tricky but worth a go. the world browser is such a cool idea of image submissions with a required format ranging from hipshots to window shots. so well thought out; so fun; so much wanted!

yard dog art

"your first steps, though cautious, began immediately to reinforce your faith in greater possibilities". wise words, and very true for {nothing: something: ny}; a graphic design studio out of new york. i'm in awe with designer kevin landwehr's portfolio, each piece a visual source of inspiration and reference to beautiful design. his vintage references weaved into current designs are so refined they look like original vintage with a twist. treat yourself and take a tour. {via oh joy}.
