new online shop alert!

We heard some whisperings about this new online shop coming soon from our favorite local papergoods brick and mortar, The Regional Assembly of Text. We've been checking back now and again and just found it live last night. Lots of goodies one finds in their store are now available for all the world to see. I came across this series of "Take away shows" broadcasted on YouTube from the collective music weblog, La Blogotheque from France the other day (via Curio + Abyss). Much like art, I like music that bends your ear a bit, like playing an instrument unconventionally (as in the Andrew Bird one where he plays his violin like a guitar as does Sufijan Stevens play his banjo). So just for a change of pace I thought it might be fun to throw these into the mix here. And also Swedish born singer- songwriter Lykke Li (just because).

handmade nation update

"Well, I'm just going to have to embed this". Were the first words out of my mouth when I first saw this stop-animated opening sequence for the upcoming film Handmade Nation movie. So awesome!

Peer is a collaboration between 25 artists who have created (compiled by the lovely Renee Garner) a limited edition collection of self-portraits and turned them into a coloring book. Artists included Abbey Hendrickson, Heather Smith Jones, Bonnie Rue, Hernan Paganini, Juliana Swaney, Stephanie Dos Reis, Camilla Engman, Jen Ray, Justin Richel, Sub-Studio, Danna Ray, Jennifer Judd-McGee, Sandra Juto, Frances Hawthorne, Jessica Gonacha, Katey Nicosia, Shannon Rankin, Wolfie and the Sneak, Kate Bingaman Burt, Lisa Solomon, Julia Rothman, Kelly Lynn Jones, Something's Hiding in Here, Lisa Congdon, and Will Bryant (I hope I didn't miss anyone). There is also a flickr group where everyone can show off their colored pictures. . .or just pictures of the book, wherever it may show up here.
