I've been meaning to for quite sometime gather different clippings of rooms I admire for inspiration in hopes of creating a spot for them here on the blog. Thanks to Pinterest, it has helped me do that and now my collection is getting bigger and to the point where I want to share them with you. I'm going to start posting them throughout the summer in hopes of creating a nice spot for inspiration and reference. Some of them you may have already seen here in different posts, but hopefully they'll be repeats you like. Eventually we'll set up a little navigation for them all on the site. So to start, a few summery bedrooms. I love this first one, which one's your favourite?

Scrapbook: Kitchens Round-Up (Part 1)

Continuing on my scrabook project where I'm gathering clippings of rooms for inspiration and reference on the blog; here are some kitchens I've started to collect. Since we are closing in on getting some actual cupboards for our kitchen (which has finally been fitted with real live walls and a ceiling this past weekend); I've been starting to really focus in on cupboards and layouts. Since our reno has started I'm quite surprised how my tastes have changed. Currently I'm really liking just the "lowers" look (like the image above - not even shelves) - is this a European thing? And hey, how affordable. I'm also really liking black and found the above image over at Bodie and Fou (by the owners of Balthazar's Keuken) for inspiration. What are your thoughts? Do you like this look (without uppers)?

Speaking of cupboards. Does anyone know of some good local sources (besides IKEA)? I just thought I'd consider local makers/suppliers as well. In the meantime, some inspiration for the scrapbook.

Scrapbook: 12+ Storage Ideas Round-up

With school starting up in some places already and just around the corner here,  I've collected a little round-up of great storage ideas for fall or anytime really.  Some of these you may have seen as of late, but most of them are new to the blog and hopefully to you.  (Above and just below:  Love these wicker baskets placed on the wall vs just sitting on the floor from In My House Blog).  Also I like the clips she has hanging on the wall versus the clipboard.

Ikea has a new series of storage boxes called KVARNIK which flirts with past times when crates and boxes were as well made as it's contents.  Dressed in off-white or dark blue jute cloth with label holders for labeling contents, the boxes come in formats tailored to include magazines, CDs and DVDs in a nice vintage style which is easy to show (love them mixed with real vintage storage as shown in this image from Livet Hemma).

I like this idea of different colored mats for this group of framed black and white photos from the collection of Sean and Cassel Heep as featured this month in Country Decorating Ideas magazine. Using the same frame gives the display a sense of unity and depth and the mat colors used are consistent with the colors found within their home. (Photo by Dan Mayer)

I've taken a few snippets from this month's Country Decorating Ideas magazine that I've been admiring. I always tell myself I'm not country oriented when it comes to decor, mine is more an eclectic mix of modern and various others, but I do seem to lean more this way than I think. Nonetheless, these ones I thought were nice and I couldn't pass up sharing them.

these colorful trays and tv trays are giving me some ideas for my walls. think back to this post where the stylist used curbside cookie tins and tray finds to create a parlour-style vignette for the walls. well, sometimes really nice ones like that are hard to find locally, but they look to be really accessible online and can really create an affordable alternative to costly framing or dishes for wall decorating ideas. top image - kashmir trays from urban outfitters; below - wood & glass serving tray from graphiteguru; retro tv dinner trays (via another shade of grey) and bird tray from chutney coast; playing card tray from musical whiskers;
