daisy jane utility calendar

I always like having a calendar like this floating about. Spiral bound so you can flip it and fold for easy handling, Daisy Jane has come up with this utilitarian and eco-friendly, (and still pretty) 2009 calendar. Just arrived in her etsy shop, daisyjanie.etsy.com.

A Modern Winter Village & New Calendar

something1

I came across these sweet wooden houses in the gocco pool last night, and found out while investigating a little further they were not only made by one of our favorite designer duo's, Something's Hiding in Here, but the houses are also "their" modern take on the winter village. Sweet! (Oh and you have to see them dance - I howled). Click here to see them dance and here to buy.

And if you can't get enough of them yet, they've also made a very unique 2009 calendar which we're also adoring. The letterpressed calendar cards and wood stand are packaged in a muslin bag. Click here to go to their shop.

2009 calendars

This calendar by Maria Vettese of port2port press is her third and final letterpressed printed calendar. She's combined original photographs from 2008 along with vintage illustrations to create something new for each month of 2009. A really nice combination.

oh, and a couple more...

Is it me, or is it because I'm doing posts on calendars, that I keep seeing more and more? And all of them equally lovely. This latest set includes the designer behind We Love Crafts Magazine, Mikimono. It's a limited edition, sweetly illustrated calendar. And below, Seattle's Herman Yu (who always has a beauty) which Herman Miller has been using as a corporate gift (now in it's 7th year). The calendar and some of his cards are available through her site.

Whip Up 2009 Calendar

It was good to hear from an old blog friend this week, Kath from Whip Up who sent me an email to let me know about Whip Up's 2009 calendar, featuring 13 artists, indie designers and crafters whose work has appeared on their site.

The calendar is available from print on demand, an Australian artist website, redbubble. She says they make very good quality products and that the quality of this calendar is fantastic (it is a spiral bound wall calendar with a hanger). Shipping is very reasonable and they ship all over the world . Click here to read more and here to buy.

sweet little birthday calendar

I thought this was so sweet when I saw it. Local Vancouverite, Jeanette of The Beautiful Project has made this birthday calendar, inspired by the dutch calendars she'd see while visiting relatives there. The calendar isn't specifically a 2009 calendar....it's even better, since it lasts for years. Keep it in a spot where visitors will see when at your home with a pen handy so that they can add their own birthday! This calendar keeps for years and years and is complete with the Dutch spelling of the months and original illustrations on every page. Each 8-page calendar is priced at $20, printed on heavy 120 lb cover stock, and coil-bound. I also love the folk-inspired design.

new shop/collaboration

hellohandmade

Hello Handmade is a new collaboration launching today between two artists, Shanna Murray and Betsy Dunlap. Pairing Shanna's amazing illustrations with Betsy's unusual calligraphy, the two have created to start off, an out of the ordinary screen printed calendar and a cozy (12x12) hoiday print which will be available Monday. Later in the week they will be adding holiday cards and quaint gift tags. Definitely worth bookmarking. Click here to check if the shop is open yet.

the art of the display + calendars: sycamore street press

Today's Art of the Display comes from one of my favorite letterpresses, Sycamore Street Press. That first shot of the left hand side of the bed really peaks an interest into seeing the rest, and then we loved her (Eva's) yellow curtains that warm up the kitchen.

Update: And I just found out about their new letterpressed calendars. Aren't they awesome? Completely hand-drawn and hand lettered imagery with 50% of all profits going to benefit AHOPE, an orphanage for HIV + children in Addis Adaba, Ethiopia. Here's a link to the shop
