Hello Handmade is Back!

Picture 10

Pretty things in the mailbox this morning from the girls at Hello Handmade and just in time for the holiday season, two new beautiful designs. First up (above) - a 2010 calendar printed on a 100% cotton tea towel. Pretty enough to be framed and loved for many years to come. And secondly, (below) a Tannenbaum Specimen Chart with six different types of fir and pine samples outlined in frosty white ink and screenprinted on sturdy kraft chipboard. Perfect to prop on a mantle for the holiday season.

a "something's hiding in here" christmas

something

Here's some awesome holiday inspiration. Shauna and Stephen of Something's Hiding In Here have created the most amazing holiday decor setting. From their tree (a faux tree set into a real stump); adding a drop of bleach to the inside of some ornaments so they would not feel so shiny and new; using color copies of old portraits as their gift wrapping (letting the gifts do the talking, with talking captions); and using Martha Stewart paper house kits and turning them inside out (then letterpressing the printed pieces). See their whole Christmas set here.

The art of the display: following garlands

atd

I came across this beautiful garland display (above) in one of our favorite flickr pools today from Petunia.typepad.com and love the romantic feel to it. Made from cupcake liners, old sheet music and patterned paper. You can see a close up of it at her blog. So pretty.

Then I was led here and here (see above) by Pam Garrison. These were made from coffee filters. Love the colors. Which led me to this amazing one from Lobster and Swan (below). So beautiful. Also check Lobster and Swan's etsy shop, lobsterandswan.etsy.com.

And finally to Anthropologie (from Kambybologon's photo stream). Also check out this garland pool at flickr for more inspiration.

the art of the display: all the luck in the world

alltheluck

We've been enjoying the latest "holiday decorated" images from The Art of Display flickr group and were especially "wowed" by this stunning version of a Christmas Tree by Jane of All the Luck in the World out of the Netherlands. Made with objects she's collected over the years, we think we're ditching the real tree next year! This image made the cover of our newsletter this week, which is on it's way this morning (in case some of you had wondered!

A Modern Winter Village & New Calendar

something1

I came across these sweet wooden houses in the gocco pool last night, and found out while investigating a little further they were not only made by one of our favorite designer duo's, Something's Hiding in Here, but the houses are also "their" modern take on the winter village. Sweet! (Oh and you have to see them dance - I howled). Click here to see them dance and here to buy.

And if you can't get enough of them yet, they've also made a very unique 2009 calendar which we're also adoring. The letterpressed calendar cards and wood stand are packaged in a muslin bag. Click here to go to their shop.
