I made this for you Chalkboard
Chalkboardmini

it's no secret that we love giving gifts. our favorite part about the holidays is making something special for our friends and family. this year, we made perpetual calendars using wood, chalkboard paint and a silk screen. since we have so many new friends at poppy talk, we wanted to share something with all of you. follow this link to download a 2010 calendar from us to you!

I made this for youHeart&baconmain Heartbacon

they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach... and this is certainly true for stephen. we take turns packing our lunches each week and i've been trying to cut everything into a heart shape. on monday, i started with this simple sandwich.

I made this for you

All i need All i need small

this week, shauna and i celebrated thanksgiving. it's had us thinking about what's important to each other, so i wanted to give her something that shows how much she means to me. i used our proofing press to make a print that's simple and to the point.

Tooth

Tooth mini

if there's anything stephen dislikes more than spiders, it's going to the dentist! before his visit, i thought i would try to lighten his anxiety by giving him a bouquet of "good luck" flowers in a papier-mâché tooth vase. (it totally helped).

Mobile

there's something sweet about watching a mobile quietly drift and spin. we saw one recently at a folk art museum and shauna hasn't stopped talking about it since. i made this miniature version just for her using some wire and paper.

Leaves Leavesmini

stephen's been out of town and while he was gone, it finally started to feel like fall. i didn't want him to miss a thing - so i gathered freshly fallen leaves and taped a collection to our wall.

welcome home stephen!

I made this for you Banannas Small banannas

sunday brunch is our favorite meal of the week. recently, i cut heart shaped bananas for the top of shauna's pancakes. it was an easy thing to do, and it made her melt like butter.

to make your own: simply carve a notch down the entire banana, then slice up the heart shapes onto pancakes, ice cream, or any of your favorite treats.

I made this for youMagaine ad mainMagazine ad mini

one of the reason's i've been looking forward to the new uppercase magazine is a special note that's hiding in the back. issue no.3 is out now and stephen found it just in time (i'm not sure how much longer i could keep it a secret). not only was this a fun surprise to plan, but placing the ad also helped support our favorite new magazine.

if you don't already subscribe to uppercase, go right now and order your own copy. don't wait because the last two issues are already sold out! no.3 also includes our favorite printmakers, lab partners and the ultra inspiring regional assembly of text. a very special thank you to janine, editor of uppercase, for helping me surprise stephen.

I made this for youTreemainTreemini

the same park we flew kites at is also our favorite place to spend time with our dogs. on a recent trip, I carved shauna’s initials into a tree nearby our usual path.

this tree is on the side of a river bank and must have fallen over a long time ago. although it doesn't grow leaves anymore, it was the perfect spot for a lasting message (or as long as the tree still stands). sometimes old traditions are the best ones.

I made this for youPencilsmainPencils mini

technically, this week should be called i had this made for you. stephen likes to stockpile pencils and he doesn't like to share them. so i ordered a few dozen pencils and had them customized with sayings like: "my wife gave me this pencil", "this pencil belongs to stephen", "will trade pencil for snickers", "if found return to stephen"...

if you have a special message (30 characters or less), the oriental trading company is a great source. for $5.99 you can order 24 custom pencils.
