i have never found the perfect computer desk. in fact i've been seriously thinking about making my own. but i think my search is almost over with this one. found at the magazine the ajax is made out of birch veneer and actually folds up if needed.

scamp
what is it about the word "scamp"? it conjures up memories of a favorite comic strip as a kid and this font on this car just was asking to have it's photo taken. i love the word, i love the comic strip and i love this font.
birute zokaityte
another beautiful piece coming out of lithuania by birute zokaityte. love the colours and subjects. saw at ona.com

sfaustina
if you haven't linked to this guy yet via eduardo recife's links; you have to take a look here. not only does he offer free fonts and photoshop brushes, but he has a great pdf magazine called bloodwars which intention is to expose the various forms and styles of street bombing and whatever else he finds stimulating. nice stuff.
matt sewell
i'm liking this matt sewell, an illustrator, graffiti artist and a bit of everything - even interiors. the inclusion of wood is especially eye-catching. (link via life with tinisima)

crafty ones
so fun some of this stuff! in line with the big renegade craft fairs being held in ny and chicago (why - i'm posting that i have no idea); but their site linked me to some great crafty sites and i found these lovely bags at buy olympia. i love the people and music and stuff that comes out of that town. my 90's days listening to kill rock stars driving down the oregon coast, visiting seaside, eating in diners along the way...
going for baroque
about ten years ago my cousin brought over some baroque wallpaper from a second hand store overseas. at the time i thought it was cool but still didn't quite get it (he was obviously onto something). since then of course this design has been slowly creeping its way back from the 70's in the past couple of years. but what i like about it is that it's showing up in other materials than it's original fair, such as these thomas paul melamine (love it!) plates and in stationary. a nice way to return. a stream of blogcious-flickrcious-sitecious-nessness
it amazes me how one thing can lead to another and then to another and then you discover another. (in other words; i went to new york to visit a blog, linked to their flickr site and linked onto a commenters flickr site that took me to rio that linked me to a website that took me all over the world (phew!)
the photo above, taken by bluejake is a great photoblogger from new york. check out his recent trip to japan and specifically sunday at harajuku. an amazing place to people watch.

form us with love
this cool company gives the user the option of forming and changing it's designs. with this one, a textile, pattern or whatever you prefer goes in between the two transparent acrylic layers and gives the chair and table (yes there's a chair too) the desired look. i'm imagining a straw beach matt for the summer. your imagination sets the limit. gotta have it! from sweden with love.
sum-sum-summer
yay! summer has finally arrived up north and to celebrate let's summer up our desktops with a lovely sand dollar wallpaper courtesy of ljcfyi and a hip-happening screensaver from pbteen complete with ocean sounds, different shades of color for the different times of day and a clock. coooooooool!
brasil inspired
brasil inspired is a site designed by brazilain graphic artist nando costa of hungry for design and his swedish wife olofsdotter also a graphic artist. the site covers the whole artistic scene coming out of brazil and has an interesting article on the graffiti scene in the southeast. i especially like the twin brothers (above) os gemeos from sao paulo. in fact i would like this on canvas above my couch.

be a design group
ana ventura
something that attracts me to this artist from lisbon, ana ventura. her whimsical style and romantic (for lack of a better word) blog is intriguing and inspiring. perhaps because it's all in portuguese and i can't understand a thing ('cept for the odd latin-based word); makes it all that more mysterious, hence intriguing. here's her professional site. and she has the coolest name. make sure to look for some photos of an installment of large dolls in a garden with embroidery designs all over them - which from what i could understand is inspired by an old tradition of fiance kerchiefs?

canada's triple-decker (three sisters) version of betsey johnson the beckermans are still a little unknown but have a fun website with all their latest designs. can't make it to new york for the chanel exhibition? see it here. or diggin those brazilian flipflops? you'll dig this fun site!

holy fonts!
OMG - i can't believe it! i've been looking and looking and searching and searching for this wonderful foundry for so so long - i thought they had disappeared off the face of the earth. a few years back i found cape-arcana and loved everything about them - i just ended up losing their link and forgetting their name (and such a great name - how could i forget). but low and behold if i didn't find their link today - again thank you eduardo! phew!
to brazil
this piece done by eduardo recife, a brazilian designer, i found while reading an article on the visual storytellers of brazil in may's how magazine (see magazine links). an interesting thought when they have the high illiteracy rates as they apparently have there; visual storytelling plays a powerful role. having had a bit of a look around i found some great links to some beautiful graffiti coming out of sao paulo and rio. there is so much to see and talk about one could get so lost again. but that is not my intention here (another day), instead i would like to direct you to eduardo's work, his website and some wonderful free fonts you can download. thank you eduardo - i can hardly wait to try out my new fonts!

hot stuff
these patterns are so hot they had to make oven mitts out of them. hailing from brooklyn and made by the deadly squire line; these tough canvas mitts will handle any hot casserole in style. available online at clio-home. they could be worn while skateboarding on their matching boards below.
deadly squire
dig dig digg'n these patterns and the products from deadly squire out of new york. dsq's patterns are envisioned and realized by founders anna and tim harrington. so love these boards which could be used for decor as well if you're a little leary on the wheels. they also have some other fabulous products i will show in the next little while - but if you can't wait you can check out their own website here. cool stuff - check it out!

sunday reading
our neighbor's poppies are beautiful right now - just had to take a photo of them yesterday. on another light note, here's some easy sunday reading:
ljc fyi take a look at some wild horses on the beaches of north carolina - stunning.
thimble has a lovely potato salad recipe that includes good old pickle juice.
free foto has exactly that - some free fotos for personal use.
hulaseventy has a hilarious story to tell about a lady named mildred.
ziboy a photoblogger from beijing.
sgraffito
sgraffito - the italian word for scratch. loooooove this pottery by jonathan adler. like his manifesto too.
see you on the rooftops
imagine all the empty flat-topped roofs that exist in a city near you had these. click on "the story" to see how they are dropped off.

it house
i've always wanted a barbie dream home with glass sliding doors and floor to ceiling windows and this may just be it without spending a million. this it house with customized furniture (optional) and shades is cool cool cool.
i've been thinking about this concept ever since i saw the design in may's metropolitan home magazine.
it's a rather affordable high-design alternative; just need to find out if it would withstand this wet coast.

a perfect t
or theme songs; bedtime sucks (kind of reminds me of someone i know), no naps, no bibs...
i know boingboing just posted this today, but i couldn't resist. smart little outfitter.
haidawater
i am lost in a sea of links. the whole process is becoming quite mind-boggling really. i link to something i check out their links and it's become this overwhelming vicious circle. i may just need a break from all this scouring. i did manage however to run into this canadian graffiti artist called waterone who sometimes (as in this image) combines haida art with graffiti which really works quite well and almost seem related. i like the 3d effect going on. his links take you to some interesting places too. liked bombing science specifically; updated daily.

rodin
driving by the vag the other day i noticed this rodin banner. checking into it further it looks like some rodin pieces will be exhibited starting mid month for the summer. we don't get alot of these types of exhibits very often, so it will be interesting to check out. hope it won't be as disappointing as the picasso exhibit which showed too many of the same things/studies).
sunday reading
some of these children they were featuring this morning are wearing these long beaded necklaces, some of them wearing more than one. each bead represents a chemo treatment, a blood transfusion or operation. a different color for each type.
children should not have to go through these things. this breaks my heart.

lululemon
their stuff is quite nice and worth checking out. even their online "luluzine" has some interesting reads.
