gathering ornaments

we pulled out the ornaments this weekend which is always fun. there's always something you forget you had and always a surprise to find. i love the vintage glass bulbs we had as a kid and have been lucky enough to have e's collection. but thought it would be fun to look for some new ones while i'm out and about. so this first one is from anthropologie. such a cute little squirrel and hand made by chika mori out of cotton felt.

artist trading cards

a great variation on the print gocco - goccoing over an image. love this! by marieke of treats and treasures.

she mentioned this great idea i had never heard of artist trading cards; like sports-themed trading cards. and one rule that makes an ATC are the dimensions must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm. and it mustn't be sold, only exchanged.

ice ice bunny!

whilst uploading my christmas cards to flickr today and adding them to the gocco pool i found this super cute holiday card by willo. so cool to see her fun illo's in gocco form.

she and her friend kevin took some great shots of the gocco process and packaged it into a gocco photo tutorial which i am definitely adding to my tutorials links!

thanks willo!

my christmas cards

i finally* finished my christmas cards. i always hand make them and it's fun to see how they evolve each year. this year i cracked open the print gocco i bought last year after i took my gocco workshop and began the process. now i want to gocco everyday. help save gocco!

* each card is hand-cut, filed and screenprinted individually from a huge piece of chip board. (took a crazy long time). he!

lace-like

something that caught my eye today was a post from the stylehive blog about lace-like furniture. i love this trend and done right can bring an airy feel to a room and are easy to mix with many style influences. i'm thinking though, only one piece in a room. (a few of my favorites):

boss lady goes to sxsw

congratulations to local boss lady girls, co-writers/businesswomen and bloggers who write advice about young women running businesses. they have been chosen for a panel for sxsw interactive!

as they suspected, "there's all kinds of girl folk out there interested in talking about business".

the proposed panel would cover what makes business different from a female perspective; the particular challenges the panelists have faced; how to create and maintain a business with or without employees; and how to achieve financial success —all without boas or pink markers.
