As discussed in other similar threads, this represents EXCELLENT news ....

agreed, it makes sense to diversify - having too many eggs in one basket (China/South east Asia) is too risky for Foxconn. One natural disaster, political unrest, region turmoil, economic problems, stuff you can't control can easily sink your company. I'm sure some of Foxconn's customer (Apple, Sony) have questions for them about any business continuity plans, risk management and their ability to supply after what happened in Japan.

odd works for me too changing the last letter to a B instead of an A

The same is true for me. Is that supposed to be a glitch on their website, or they are that precise in picking out bad batteries from the bunch?

One of the best application updates Apple has done in a long time.

    Great job Apple. Simply great.

Agreed. iTunes 5 and 6 were a little 'meh' but I'm loving 7 so far.

...I can tell you as someone who works with hackers (half of my buddies are at BlackHat this week) that OS X is NOT inherently secure, and that there are plenty of vulnerabilities that surface on it that are well-known in the "hacker" community long before they are made "public," and also long before they are also repaired by Apple.

OS X is definitely inherently more secure than Windows, but the near-complete lack of viruses/use of other exploits for them is definitely not because they are ironclad in terms of security. That should be abundantly clear from a cursitory reading of the kbase article on the latest security update. Many of those fixes were to rootkit holes! As in, god-sized sized security holes...

I've always told, or at least tried to say, that Macs were more secure than Windows and did not have the same vulnerabilities, nor the number of viruses and other associated bits of malware. Macs are immune to many things, but you're absolutely right, they're not invulnerable.

One thing to note is this particular vulnerability also affects Windows, so if we're still comparing the two against each other this vulnerability doesn't exactly tip the scales.

I don't mind the GMA all that much. If you don't do gaming it is pleanty powerful enough. I gave up on gaming after giving up on WoW in favor of FF XII. It is pretty pathetic that Apple still even sells a computer with a combo drive tho.... that really should be standard even in the $1099 model these days.

Would you buy a CD MB the day the C2D comes out for $700

No. It isn't worth pinching pennies when it comes to notebooks. I'd gladly pay the extra to get something that runs significantly cooler (which apparently is the case with the new MBPs).

Milo helped me find 2 iPads at a Best Buy in my local area. Unfortunately, the site has shown 'sold out' everywhere for the last few days.

Random? What was random about the levels to you? They made plenty of sense to me with regards to the story.

The player has a re-entry pack on. You can see this in the cutscene both on the Covenant ship, and at the start of the next level when he/she pulls out their pistol from it. Also, this level, Exodus, takes place 10 days later. You've walked to New Alexandria, but you are only helping the Army there on the way to meeting back up with your team. You don't meet up with them until the end of the following level.

I know they can fall from like they do. Where does it say 10 days later? Like I said that was my opinion. The story is rubbish.

Am I the only one who thinks the multiplayer stinks? (team slayer)
Judging by the playlist populations, yes, you are in a very small minority. Team Slayer is, and always has been, the most popular playlist.
There's no guns to switch, the jet pack is a total crap I'll just fly around and you can't shoot me and you can't kill me because there is no rocket launcher or laser. Am I missing something?
You can choose from any of the 4 or 5 different Loadouts at every spawn. Each comes with a different Armor Ability (Jet Pack, Sprint, Armor Lock, etc) and weapon set (DMR, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, etc). Also, there are plenty of weapons still placed on the maps. The usual power weapons are on all the maps with which they are applicable, plus you can still always pick up weapons off of the ground when other players drop them.

I've been going thru these forums for about a year now. I find good posts and opinions but I hate these snide comments from people. Not everyone is as tech savvy as many who post here. I'm sick of scrolling past these guys that have nothing better to do than mock others.

You must hate the internet then. It runs on snark.

....and watching the retail pandaemonium Apple brings with its popular products. Simply amazing.

While admittedly many of its advances are pretty nice, and after playing with one for 15 minutes at MicroCenter, I'm sticking with my generation 1 iPad and waiting until iPad 3 comes out.

I like how the new version is much snappier and how pages in Safari don't have to reload so often (plus no checkerboard). However, for me, I'd have to be pretty impatient to just update for those reasons alone. Every iteration is going to likely improve on these points.

The one thing that really tempts me is form factor. The decrease in width makes a noticeable improvement in handling the device. I didn't think the .2 lbs shaved off would make a difference, but it does. I guess when you're dealing with devices already incredibly light, even a .2 lb difference is notable.

As much as I hate to admit it, the new cover is pretty slick. I look forward to seeing what third parties dream up.

Still, in the end, I'm waiting for iPad 3, which will probably have a higher res screen. Besides a better media experience, it opens doors for app developers due to more real estate. Also, by that time, I will have ditched my Android for an iPhone 5 making the iPad camera and Facetime more useful. 4G may even be an option by then.

For those looking for the iPad 2, good luck. If you have never had an iPad, I think you'll find your efforts worth it. I know people love to throw the term around, but it really is a game changer.

But not widespread at all in the U.S the primary target audience of the first generation iPhone.

I remember getting a new phone just before the iPhone was originally announced, and despite the fact that it was a bargain basement dumb phone, it had 3g.

In fact, I distinctly remember seeing 3g on almost every other phone I was looking at months before that, including smartphones. It was widespread already by that time, but it still had technical limitations (mostly on the power end of things).

I think Apple's strategy has always been to delay implementing new technology until it functions seamlessly. I just don't see an LTE iPhone this year being able to function seamlessly. The carriers (at least in North America) are nowhere near ready and their target for full implementation is around 2013, which makes 2012 a far more reasonable timeframe for an LTE iPhone because by then at least a substantial portion of the market will have access to LTE.

Hackers rank up there with drug dealers as the scum of the earth. Pathetic, cocky wastes of human life. And no - there's no way you can convince me otherwise and I know I'm not in the minority on this one.

Side Note: Of course I'm talking about the ones who release their stuff into the wild and don't just notify the software company about the problem and keep it to themselves (those are good people and should be commended - it's the other ones that are a waste of flesh)

I agree....but wouldn't it be better to say, malicious hackers? I think that most hackers are good people and just like to tinker with things. Of course there's always going to be some bad apples.

Let see the fanboys defend this:

Rogue Amoeba has said they will no longer develop iPhone apps and will concentrate on the Mac. It had taken three months for Apple to release a bug fix. Does Rogue Amoeba suck too?
