Perusing the new blogs over at the re-designed Canadian House and Home website today, I came across a post by Sarah Hartill on Cheap Art for Kids' Rooms. Whiteboard Paint

I just read over at Design Hole (who twittered me about my book giveaway) that there's now a whiteboard paint out there on the market. This is news to me and apparantly lots of companies are making it, including Idea Paint and Rust-oleum. Jennifer suggests using it in your laundry room to note your stain removal cocktails or on furniture and accessories to create personalized gifts. I can see lots of fun paint projects appearing soon!

Clothes Art

I don't usually post about fashion here, but this blouse from Akina out of Australia is really a piece of art, isn't it?

A Domino of a Giveaway!

We were very sad (like many we’re sure) when the news of Domino Magazine closed. However their innovative and gorgeous ideas live on in their book, Domino, The Book of Decorating. The folks from Simon & Schuster have kindly sent us two copies of their book to give away to our readers.

Having a chance to flip through this book over this past weekend, not only are the images amazing (in the Domino way), but there are some creative decorating tips and innovative how-to's too! I love this book, and truly didn't know how good it was! (I wish I could keep a copy)!

Please leave a comment here (at this post only) with your email address and location. We will run this giveaway from now through to the end of Wednesday, April 29th/09 at 11:59pm. We will post the winners (there will be two) here Thursday, April 30th/09. Good luck and a HUGE thank you to Nina at Simon & Schuster !

One entry per person please.

UPDATE NOTE: We have so many comments, that if you are using Safari, you are going to have trouble reaching the bottom of the comments page to comment, so if you could, please use Firefox to comment. If you don't have Firefox, please email us at poppytalkblog[at]yahoo[dot]ca and I will enter your name in. Use the words 'DOMINO GIVEAWAY' in the subject line. Sorry for the inconvenience. Blogger and safari aren't mixing well with our creative fandangled coding! Thanks!

New Trend in Bouquets

There is a new trend emerging in the U.S for more natural and organic styled bouquets, different from the normal structured posy or trailing bouquet. Using lots of different shapes and sizes of flowers and foliage these bouquets are earthy and fresh, as though you've just picked them from the garden and they've happened to fall into a stunning arrangement in your hands. I especially like the idea of including Australian natives in these kind of bouquets as the style suits them very well. If you don't want something that looks too "Australian bush" then only use native foliages and filler flowers leaving the focal flowers to the more romantic and soft types.

easy retro d.i.y. kids tee!

We found a very fun and easy di.y. kids tee tutorial online the other day and had to let you know about it! Guest blogger Jenn from Ambrosia Girl posted this on the Tangled and True blog. Using a great font, and printing it on freezer paper, then painting the stencil in, voila. Check it out at Tangled and True.

Wedding at Mijas Villa Bancales

How lucky are these brides at the moment with our Spanish weather, every wedding I have decorated since March has been perfect and the sun has shone on everone. Here we decorated and coordinated a beautiful wedding for Leilani and Eric,
who flew in from San Francisco and what a fabulous day they had in such a beautiful setting at Villa Bancales in Mijas.
Our thanks to such a smooth running day goes to the ever amazing Jeremy Standley, JH Productions, Michael Taylor Catering, Sue with her lovely cakes, and of course the wonderful Matt with his beautiful spanish guitar and last but not least Reviva Weddings!
We are of course waiting for the most fabulous photos from Jeremy and his team! So watch this space x
