H&H: The 2011 Trends Issue

The New Modern (Soft & Layered) - more layers, curated books, plants and objets, hand-thrown pottery, tufted upholstery, wood, hits of silvery blue.  (Design, Brad Ford, Photo:  Patrick Cline).

I've got a few sneak peeks today from the January issue of House and Home magazine. The trends issue features five favourite looks that, as they say,  "get new and surprising twists".  What's your favourite?

The New Vintage (Edgy & Focused) - intentionally deconstructed furniture, decoupage accessories, tattered edges, distressed fabrics, faded prints. (Design, John Derian, Photo: Eric Broman)

The New Country (Sleek & Artisanal) - cleaner, almost shaker-like and utilitarian, handcrafted appeal, organic pieces like rough-hewn boards, and firewood within a white space, industrial applicances, farmhouse table doubles as an island. (Design Darryl Carter, Photo:Simon Upton)
The New Tradition (Bold & Exotic) - clashing colours, bold patterns, drama, chinoiserie, red point blanket, headboards w/nailhead detailing, bits of gold.  (Photo:  Ngoc Minh-Ngo)
The New Global (Suble & Tailored) - wordly finds, exotic textiles, less eclectic, more elegant, scaled-back accents, cool blue and white palette, simple striped kilim (Room Photo:  Tim Street-Porter)

The it List (10 Must Haves to Instantly Update Your Home).  Luxe lighting, matte ceramics, new persian rugs, custom pillows w/small scale prints and button finishing, white faucet, bronze flatware, small sink, patinated knobs (hardware), slipcovered dining chair, antiqued mirror.
