If you are not going to have escort cards at the entrance to the reception, and are instead going to have the place card and seating plan combination then here a few fabulous ideas. Think outside the box! It may only be a tiny bit of paper but as seen here you can be very creative with it.
Idea No.1
As seen above the placecard is slipped into a tiny corked bottle, in keeping with the theme of seaside or beach. You needn't always have the placecard sitting in it's usual place, that is to the right and above the plate. It can be anywhere... layered on top of the plates, attached to a wineglass, pinned to a pear at the top of the plate as seen below... anywhere, the sky's the limit.
Idea No.2
Little pears sit at their place settings with the placecard, simply a tag, pinned to the top. Very inexpensive yet so effective.
Idea No.3
A very simple and minimal place setting can be just as stunning as a layered one and suits a modern wedding very well. Here at a sophisticated beach wedding, the simple rounded square plates are adorned with a shell which holds the placecard and a single orchid.
Idea No.3
In lieu of a paper placecard the couple used porcelain eggs and cups with their guests names hand painted on each. For a brunch reception after a sunrise wedding this is just perfect.
Idea No.4
Use the placecard as part of the napkin ring along with a ribbon and a sprig of herb or flowers.
