Today we're super-thrilled to have our dear friend, Lisa Solomon join us as a new contributor here on Poppytalk! For those that don't know Lisa, here's a little bit about her and what she will be sharing here.
Lisa Solomon is a mixed media artist who lives in Oakland, CA with her husband, young daughter, a one eyed pit bull, a french bulldog, a cross-eyed cat, a 3 legged cat, and many many spools of thread. She moonlights as a college professor, a graphic designer, and is a partner in MODify/d a crafty biz that up/cycles and re/purposes discards from the fashion industry. Continually interested in the mundane, hybridization, domestic arts, the relationship between art + craft, and spaces “in between” her work ranges from the very small intimate drawings to grand scale room size installations. [she also dabbles in photography – she’s particularly fond of polaroids].
For Poppytalk, Lisa will be sharing her “make believe collection” - her dream collection of art for her pretend home – any art, any scale, any price! we’re sure we’ll be introduced to a whole range of artists – from famous to those just getting their feet wet – as she shares her reasoning for her collector’s lust a couple times a month with us.
