Where in your home/apartment/city is your studio located?
Our studio is in our apartment, right off our living room. I think it was intended to be a dining room so it's only separated from the rest of the house by an archway, and our work often spills out into other parts of the house.

What equipment/tools do you use?
We rely on our two goccos! We use the smaller PG-5 for our stationery and the monster PG-Arts for larger art prints. We also use our vintage Smith Corona typewriter to add text to our cards, our Singer sewing machine to add details to collage, and our iMac to layout designs.

Do you have an inspiration board, and can you tell us what is inspiring you now?
We actually don't have an inspiration board, but I feel like our whole house serves that purpose. The things that inspire us are all over our walls. We use a lot of vintage images and materials in our work, so I guess it should be no surprise that we have little collections of vintage items in every room of the house: a wall of horse plates in the kitchen; mermaid chalkware in the bathroom; silhouettes and ballet boxes in the bedroom; elephant, robot, and deer figurines in the living room; children's books, more ballet paraphernalia, and assorted trinkets in the studio.

How do you create best (e.g. do you listen to music while you create and if so what?)
I think we work best when we're both together, the sun is shining, and there's music playing. Lately we've been listening to a lot of 70s Brazilian music while we're working, like Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben. Astrud Gilberto and Chet Baker are also studio favorites, as well as Beirut, Lavender Diamond, and Bon Iver. (When left to my own devices, I've been known to work with a Law and Order marathon on TV in the background, but that's not nearly as much fun.)

List (3) of your favorite artists (with links)
Of course it's hard to narrow it down to three! Two all time favorites for both of us are Joseph Cornell and Charles and Ray Eames. I'm currently really inspired by Lisa Congdon, and Matthew is constantly inspired by his good friend Steve MacDonald.

If yours isn't, what would be your perfect studio?
We love our current space, but in an ideal world we would have separate rooms for our art and music gear. (Matthew is also a DJ and I'm a singer, so our studio is doing double duty at the moment.)

Thank you Sandy and Matthew
