free download
Last week we posted about Pilllpat’s scanned ephemera and vintage french paper crafts. While sifting through them we came across a sweet little desk calendar.
We used their template as a starting point and built our own. All you need is some paper, tape , scissors and a printer. It’s kind of fun and super easy to make! Click here to get the pdf.

photography
Love this photo from one of Portland's newest residents, Cori Kindred. I came across it on her flickr recently and asked if she would mind us using it for the cover of this week's newsletter. Stunning isn't it? She also makes things like this adorable pinecone collection box (another thing to pine over, sorry had to do that). To see more of her work click here and here.

textiles
Commemorating living in a structure that felt like camp (due to moving to her new house in the country), Pennsylvania's Leanne Graeff designed these awesome lino blocked camping tea towel series. And we have been pining for them ever since we laid our eyes on them. Perfect for a cottage camper and "our" kitchen each towel is hand printed on 100% linen. See more of her lino block work here.

We know Jinnie of Lilacmoon for her polaroids and Poladoodles, and she also likes to make things with rubber stamps. We came across these fun little crafts she made using stamps and asked if she’d mind sharing with our readers. You can see more at her blog, blog.lilacmoonstudio.com. Thanks Jinnie!

an arts and crafts shopping weekend in vancouver!
We love autumn, with all the fall fairs that start popping up everywhere and it seems the world arts and crafts comes alive and keeps this blog and market hopping. So this weekend locally here in the lower mainland, a few more craft happenings for your handmade shopping. First off, one of my very very favorite potters, Laura McKibbon of Cul de Sac Design, (I even know her url off by heart) is having her annual studio sale this Sunday (Sept 28th) from 10 am to 8pm, as usual her work will be priced 20-30% off (amazing deal)! It's at #240, 975 Vernon Drive, Vancouver, B.C., Canada. I hope to get down there!

Secondly, the "I Heart Crafts Bazaar" (another Vancouver favorite and must see) is on Sunday Sept 28th as well. It will take place at 11 am to 6 pm at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Strathcona, 805 East Pender St. Vancouver. Jeannette of The Beautiful Project will be there as well a host of other super talented Seamripper and Etsy crafters.
into the great wide open
Fun pieces for the right room (I'm thinking entrance, of course) with these giant oversized wall murals from New York filmmaker and photographer, Anthony Savini. Printed on heavy duty 80lb wet strength paper in 8 panels, this photo-realistic mural is apparantly simple to install and remove. (A great idea for a small space as it would totally open it up). From Urban Outfitters.
decay decor
These are the latest designs from Brooklyn designer, Donna Brady of Re-Surface Design. Close-up photographs of urban decay are printed on canvas and then turned into these stunning pendant lampshades. Shade dimensions: 18"diameter x 9" body. Available here.

flea market fixes
A great article on how to turn flea market finds into your own treasure from Hallmark Magazine's style guru, Andy Newcom. Paint a chair, add decorative elements to an aged dresser and turn century old glass shades into votives. Click here to find out how.

xoelle (get it? kiss-hug-elle?) (ok, i didn't at first either, but i like it!) makes *great* ties by reusing and repurposing vintage neckties and fabrics into new ones.
plus she's in pensacola, which is very close to where my sister lives, and i am totally nephew-obsessed this week. gaga for nephew. nephew-o-rama.

Paper Crafts from Pilllpat
Remember these, or something similar as a kid? The North American versions weren’t as quaint as this, and so that’s why we think these French ones are so worth re-visiting this very sweet craft.
This gem isn’t the only one you’ll find if you visit Pilllpat’s flickr photostream (yes there's three "L's"). If you don’t already know, she has an amazing collection of scanned ephemera to waste hours looking through. We especially love this newspaper stand. If you wish to build this one you can find the models here and here. See more here.
After thought: Or just print these out and frame!
the art of the display: ninavorm
Today's The Art of Display pick comes from the Netherlands and the home of Nina of Ninainvorm. Her gallery style wall is worth a definite mention and so are her ceramics (I posted about this past June).

Clockwise top left: Industry pendant lamp, Subliminal dinnerware, Ditte Sofa, Lotus Floral, Black patent pillowand Pebble mat.
The Art of the Display: Cucciobaby
This lovely pick from The Art of the Display today comes from Ciucciobaby's photostream. Beautiful greens against the taupe (I haven't seen that color for a while, but it gets updated by these bright vibrant colors). And the paper whites tell me it's time to plant some soon! And if you can check out Ciucciobaby's sweet quilts!

Bookshelf 29
Love this new set of books print titled, Bookshelf 29 by Jane Mount. I posted about her book prints this past spring, which are one of my favorites. It's just been released at 20x200, meaning it's from an edition of 200 each only $20.
reinked: eco-friendly invites and paper goods
{ reinked and recycled -- save the date letterpress }
as a bonus for those of you who read that long bit below, here's something i've had on deck for a while now -- have featured invitedink on here a couple of times for great design and all around outstanding invitations, and now the kind folks there have a site called reinked for their eco-friendly line.
these gorgeous rounded-edge (check!) letterpress (check!) tree-free 100% post-manufacture recycled cotton save the dates -- you customize them by using a hole-punch to punch out the date. better yet, the envelopes are made from salvaged/recycled maps and they come with labels including your return address. now that's seriously eco-friendly.
reinked makes lots of other gorgeous recycled/repurposed invitations, thank yous, and notecards -- check them out!

posting, posting: quick life catchup
oh blog friends, i realize the massive slowdown in posting is affecting not *only* my traffic and my mission for you to spend at least some of your wedding dollars on independent designers, but also both your *and* my ability to procrastinate effectively and while away happy hours. so i thought i'd at least give you some excuses idea as to why i am such a blog slacker.
"on why jennifer isn't posting as often as anyone would like, including herself"
by jennifer
1. i am so, so *happy*. i met someone and he is great. and last month, due to a host of funny and sweet circumstances, he moved in. (yes, that is the sound of hell icing up.) i have never lived with anyone before, and it's just amazing to me. i love it! now i come home each evening and there's a person in my house, and i *like* him, and he likes me. so we tend to talk and cook and laugh and clean up (were there ever two people who went through more dishes?). and then i fall asleep, and i haven't blogged.
2. work: the magazine is undergoing a major redesign -- we just shipped the november issue, and i have been working for what feels like decades keeping up with all the near-catastrophes and averting disaster. and then i leave work, and i haven't blogged.
there are other reasons (lots!) -- family, jewelry orders, friend's wedding -- but i won't bore you with details. if only i were just a blogger! like most of you i work full time, run a side business on etsy, travel frequently, and have too many things i love to do. this is one of them! my community service to etsy artists and a labor of love. i promise to try and keep up with it all better!
but please forgive me, because i am falling asleep, and i haven't (really) blogged... ;)
