Where is your studio located?
my studio is a shared space at artstream in downtown rochester new hampshire. i also have a space at home for late night doodling, but feel most of my work happens at artstream.
What tools do you use?
papers, inks, oil paint, acrylic paint, clay, printmaking ink, monotype gelatin and lots of mediums and glue!
Do you have an inspiration board and can you tell us what is inspiring you now
as my studio is located inside our two gallery spaces, i have an ever changing inspiration board of sorts - however - inside the studio space i have a line which harbors my latest drawings on paper and a moveable wall which holds bits and pieces of objects from birch bark to my students scribbles they give me. sometimes a leaf or a shell or a bit of sea glass makes it way to the table too.
How do you create best...
i crave quiet. absolute quiet most of the time when i am working. i usually get up around 530 a.m. and after my daughter leaves for school i try and start working. at 7 a.m. the noise of the rushing river falls outside my door is music to my ears.
List three of your favorite artists
so tough, ever changing, but... all time favorites have to be
kurt schwitters
paul klee
alberto giocometti
If yours ins't what would be the perfect studio?
i am really happy with my studio and feel that it is really wonderful as it has most of the elements i need to create:
space, space, space, light, quiet, others creating art in the space when i am not, storage
and a huge loving bonus: my techno-whiz-supporter husband rainer
What would make it perfect would be the addition of a printing press slab roller, but hey, life is not perfect!
