The Vancouver International Biennale

Water #7 by Ren Jun. Located in Vanier Park. Photo by Dan Fairchild.
The Vancouver International Biennale is a free 22-month open air exhibition featuring the world’s most prominent sculptors and New Media artists. The Biennale is a bi-annual public art event featuring monumental public sculpture installations along the beaches, walking and bike pathways surrounding Vancouver and West Vancouver’s 12 waterside neighbourhoods and urban plaza’s. This piece shown here is the newest neighbor of The Museum of Vancouver, installed in Vanier Park and is still under the protective wrap that it was shipped in from China. When it will be unwrapped it will be an apparantly " jaw-dropping 90′ long sculpture" shimmering in stainless steel and looking like a giant mercury splash. Chinese sculptor Jun Ren, makes his North American debut with this sculpture titled Water #7 (along with another piece, Water #10 still on it's way). Visit the Vancouver Biennale blog for more stunning photos.
