For the Love of Light and many more things


I couldn't resist this photo on Maditi's flickr today which linked to For the Love of Light, a tribute to the art of polaroid. A group of 25 photographers bid farewell to a true love, the polaroid through their pictures made into a book. Click here to see more.

I've been inundated with emails for things happening in the design world and I apologize to everyone who has emailed with their most important things. I only wish I had extra hands to get them all into posts here. So I'm going to do the next best thing and try to list as many as possible (without pictures unfortunately). Thank you for thinking of Poppytalk to send them all to, and thanks for your patience with my postings. Currently I have way too many messages in my inbox. Here's a few to start:

There looks like an amazing art workshop being held this September by Squam Art Workshops (squamartworkshops.com) is an annual, four-day arts retreat whose mission is to offer an inspiring and supportive environment that will nurture creative individuals so that they might produce inspiring original work that both celebrates and expands the imagination. Grace Bonney of design*sponge (www.designspongeonline.com ) will be their guest speaker Wednesday evening. Click here for more info.

Elizabeth Soule has some new prints out titled, "Letting the Horses Loose".  The series is composed of 15 horse images, all taken with a Polaroid SX-70 camera.  Each image she's offering in this new series is a scanned polaroid, printed on archival photo rag paper with archival inks and mounted on 6"x6"x1.25" block and sealed with a UV protective laminate.  All of these images are currently available in her etsy shop, www.esoule.etsy.com.

63 flying cloud blog is back - it's that airstream blog we loved watching last year on summer vacation.

A Stationery & Greeting Card Workshop is being held in Los Angeles presented by the Design Entrepreneur Network on September 20, 2008 from 10-5. The instructors are Susie & Heidi Bauer of Rock Scissor Paper. Cost for the workshop is $200.  More information is available here.
