DIY @ MOV, A Night of Social Crafting
Ok Vancouver! This is exciting. A big museum like the Museum of Vancouver is holding an event for crafters! New and old, they plan to create a community meet-up celebrating the creativity and community of Vancouver's growing DIY craft and design movement. The first event will be held January 21st at 7pm at the museum. For those of you who don't know where the museum is, it is attached to the Planetarium at 1100 Chestnut Street beside Vanier Park in Vancouver. There will be workshops, free materials courtesy of Opus Framing & Art Supplies, music and a bar! They are cool people (I've met them) and it'll be fun! Hope to see you there!
Also, The Art of Craft, MOV's newest exhibit opens on the 13th of January featuring "Exuberant and refined craft form Canada and the Republic of Korea". It is presented with Cultural Olympiad Vancouver 2010. The opening night is open to the public, tickets on sale for both events are $15 online or at the door, members free. The Art of Craft is running January 14, 2010 through April 11, 2010.
