El Cosmico

El Cosmico

If you saw ReadyMade Magazine for Feb/March 2010 you probably were admiring (like us) this fun trailer-turned hotel idea by hotelier, Liz Lambert and her management company Bunkhouse called El Cosmico. El Cosmico, recently opened in the fall of 2009, and is located on an 18 acre plot of land in Marfa, Texas where they are building something entirely new to the hospitality industry. With 20-30 restored & renovated vintage trailers, rammed earth community buildings, a large central pool, wood-fired hot-tubs, art shacks and an amphitheatre; all created to foster artistic and intellectual exchange. I was only able to visit their website over the weekend and was oogling over many of their pictures there which I thought would be fun to share. Having a fondness for vintage holiday trailers, these images were right down my alley especially how they've decorated the interior of the one shown in ReadyMade (a 1956 The Imperial Mansion). Uncluttered, with beautifully varnished original wood, unique light fixtures, vintage table & chairs and lovely tex-mex style rugs and blankets in reds, oranges and pinks; looks like the perfect place to sit down and write your first novelette. They also have Yurt and Teepee accommodations along with amenities such as a hammock grove, bath house, kitchen, bar-b-ques and wireless internet. Click here to read more.
