(this is so cool)! a while back i posted about a call for submissions for a project local vancouver artist, colleen baran was doing called, "like wearing a love letter". she was asking for people to submit their love stories and she was then going to turn them into pieces of jewelry.
well tonight is the opening of this show, and we have a sneak peek at some of the cool things she's created. if you're in vancouver, (tonight from 6-8 pm) you can see the work in person at the crafthouse gallery, 1386 cartwright street, granville island, vancouver, b.c. (tel: (604) 687-7270). see her work in person, read love stories, eat some chocolates and even submit a love story.
Baran says, in the ‘Like Wearing a Love Letter’ series I wanted to make jewellery that was like a love letter. Like wearing a daydream, a memory or a thought of love. This show includes that work as well as new and as yet unseen pieces. It is a show about little stories, hidden and in plain sight. Rings set with hidden stories, with layers like a book, with cloud like bundles of sweet thoughts and rings set with rubber stamps for leaving messages of love.
