There's a unique housing opportunity happening here in Vancouver called Laneway Housing where the city is allowing some property owners to build a secondary residence or studio typically located at the rear of an existing home, often replacing the existing garage or parking area. What it allows is a secondary residence for family members or a rental suite to generate additional income on your existing property. The first Lane House opened it's doors this past weekend featuring it's prefabricated self designed by Lanefab out of Vancouver. The 710-square foot, two storey suite features a downstairs bedroom, bathroom and laundry area. The kitchen and living room are located upstairs and the cost for this smaller unit starts at $190,000CAD to build and can be rented between $1500 to $2000 per month.
